For 2024 the Day of Atonement is October 13. That is calculated by the first new moon after the equinox being on the night of April 8, which means the new years starts at sundown April 9. The start of the 7th month would then be October 4, and the 10th would be the 13th. . Let me know after you read this, and I'll try to just give some pointers so you can calculate the date for 2025 yourself. . God bless you as you learn about and follow what God says to do. 😀

@@radtek99 It is great to see your interest in this subject. You are very close. Let me give another hint. The first new moon after the equinox in 2025 is March 29.The time is at 13:19, so the next sundown (in just a few hours on that day) starts the new year.

@@earlysda I see. I missed the step of figuring out the first new moon after the equinox. So would that then the seventh month would be September 29th and the 10th day October 9th? I think it’s important for Adventist as well to keep the holy days especially the Day of Atonement. God bless!

I want you to understand that I am an English teacher by trade, and knowing by practice and that Ellen White writes that it is best for teachers to lead rather than just give answers, I'll continue in that vein if you don't mind. Please keep in mind that I'm learning too, and the method I believe to be the most correct for calculating these dates may be incorrect. I'm definitely open to any light you or anyone else has on this subject. But I've studied it out in pretty good detail, and believe this is the correct method. After you've been able to calculate the date, I'll be happy to talk about problems/questions with this method and of course the Feasts of the Lord in general. 😀 . Your first calculation was much closer. The hint I was trying to show was the time of day that the moon does it's thing is important. The next sundown after the moon does it's thing is when the various holy convocations to the Lord start. . So, that means if the moon's timing is even a second after sundown, it means that the holy convocation day doesn't start until the NEXT sundown. Since God's daily calendar goes from sundown to sundown, this makes good sense. . So to find the Day of Atonement for any given year, one needs to determine when the year starts, then count to the 7th new moon, and figure out when that 7th month starts. The DOA will be on the 10th of that month. . God bless you!

johnny, respectively, you failed to show any Bible support for the idea that the 7th day Sabbath was abolished, and the command to keep Sunday holy was given. . The first day of the week is mentioned 8 times in the New Testament. Never does it show anything regarding making that day holy. . Regarding the meeting in Acts chapter 20, Paul was leaving the next day, so they called a meeting that started on the first day of the week. In Bible reckoning, that would have been some time between sundown Saturday and sundown Sunday on our current calendar reckoning. And the meeting went all night, until the next morning. So it is possible the meeting didn't break up until Monday morning. But even if it was Sunday morning, obviously Paul wasn't keeping that day holy, because then he boarded a boat and went travelling. . The only authority for keeping Sunday holy is from the Roman Catholic Church. . Let's be among the few that keep the commandments of God, and have the faith of Jesus.

@@earlysda Your response is filled with assumptions. It says Paul was ready to depart on the next day, the sermon took place on Sunday! And we live Christianity by example. They met up on Sunday, that is the example we must follow. And you have to account the new testament as a whole. We put the pieces together like a puzzle. The old law was abolished when Christ died, including the sabbath. It sounds like you are deep in your doctrination, and i doubt any scripture would change your mind. So let's put it this way, when the world ends I can boldly face my judgment and proclaim to God I did everything He told me to. You on the other hand will say you did everything you thought. Live your life by the scriptures, not by what some false church taught you. Do yourself a favor, study it out FOR YOURSELF! I guarantee you will be worshipping God the way the apostles did. On Sunday! Disregard the catholics, they are not of God.

Acts 20:7 meeting probably started on a Sunday afternoon Many Sunday-keepers say this text shows that Sunday observance was a thing with Paul and the early Christian Church. Many Sabbath-keepers say this text just shows a Saturday night (biblical first day) "farewell" meeting for Paul. I will show why I believe it was a farewell meeting, but started Sunday afternoon, going to early Monday morning. What do the inspired words say? Acts 20:7 And upon the first [day] of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. I believe this translation is good, understanding that the original has "μία mia one or first" and "σάββατον sabbaton meaning the Sabbath or a week". Acts 20:8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together. This is the "proof" many give for the meeting being held at night. That's all very well and good, but notice it does NOT say that there were many lights when the meeting started. Haven't you ever been in a meeting that started while it was still light, and went on to evening, when the lights were turned on? Acts 20:9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. "Long preaching" - in Troas, probably in late April, the sunset is around 8:05pm. Now for the meeting starting after sunset, it would generally be expected that Paul would not have started preaching until around 8:30 at the very earliest. That would make only 3 1/2 hours until midnight, which wouldn't be so terribly long. But if he started, say at 6pm, then it would make sense that 6 hours of talking would be "long preaching." Acts 20:10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing [him] said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. Acts 20:11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. "break of day" is obviously "sunrise". That would be around 6:25am for Troas in late April. Notice here that Paul "talked a long while" which is the time from getting back up after raising the dead boy, until at least 6:25, so around 6 hours probably. This gives more evidence that Paul's "long preaching" before midnight was probably of a similar length - therefore starting around 6pm, before sundown. So what are the possibilities of when this meeting took place? First, we have to define what a "day" is. God has defined our days to start at sunset, not midnight. The Roman calendar has a day starting at midnight. So if Acts 20:7 is referring to a day on God's calendar, the meeting would have started sometime between sunset on Saturday and sunset Sunday. If the Roman calendar, between midnight Saturday night and midnight Sunday night. Therefore, the only timeframe possible is, that the meeting started sometime after 8:05pm Saturday, with the latest ending time being around 6:30am Monday. I believe the meeting started on Sunday afternoon, and went to Monday sunrise. John 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first [day] of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you. There is no question that John 20:19 is talking about Sunday afternoon/evening. This is very nearly the same wording as Acts 20:7. After having just worshipped (probably together) all day on the Sabbath, it seems a bit odd to call an all-night meeting right after the Sabbath ended. And why would they call a meeting to break bread right after being together all day? Didn't they eat on the Sabbath? The word "midnight" is used. While this is also used among the Jews, it has strong connotations with the Roman day. We must remember that Acts is written to Theophilus, a Greek convert to Christianity. Matt 26:20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve. This sounds like the usual custom was to get together in late afternoon/evening to have a meal. If you love Jesus you will do as he did, and keep the 7th day Sabbath holy. Please start doing that this coming July 12, 2024 sunset, to sunset on the following day. God will definitely bless as you do so.

Even if I showed you every single scripture that says the old law is done away with, (which includes the sabbath) you like the pharisees would not listen. I gave you 2 scriptures. The Lord's Day is NOT Sunday. It is the 7th day of the week. . If you read Acts 20:7 carefully, you will find that Paul was leaving the next day, so his talking went on until Monday morning. So is Monday the new Lord's Day now?

The Investigative Judgment is the process that Jesus is currently doing in the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary, where is going over the records of all who have claimed his name, to determine who is going to heaven and who is not, when he returns in clouds of glory to take them home. . God's people have done many terrible things in the past and still today. The Israelites were doing terrible things to babies, yet they were still God's chosen people. As individuals, if they repented and turned from evil, they will be in God's kingdom at last, just as those supporting abortion today will be if they repent and turn from evil too. . Jesus is our wonderful Saviour, Redeemer, and best Friend. Praise his holy name!

@@earlysda I got you 😁 The phrase “the Lord of the Sabbath” is found in Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, and Luke 6:5. In all three instances Jesus is referring to Himself as the Lord of the Sabbath or, as Mark records it, “The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28). In these verses, Jesus is proclaiming that He is the One who exercises authority even over the rules and regulations that govern the Sabbath day. As such, Jesus was proclaiming to the world, especially to the legalistic Pharisees, that He was greater than the Law and above the laws of the Mosaic Covenant because, as God in flesh, He is the Author of those laws. Unable to keep the Law, however, the Pharisees had instituted a complex and confusing system of Sabbath laws of their own that was oppressive and legalistic. They had set up strict laws regarding how to observe the Sabbath, which included 39 categories of forbidden activities. In essence, these religious leaders had made themselves lords of the Sabbath, thus making themselves lords over the people. As Creator, Christ was the original Lord of the Sabbath (John 1:3; Hebrews 1:10). He had the authority to overrule the Pharisees’ traditions and regulations because He had created the Sabbath-and the Creator is always greater than the creation. Furthermore, Jesus claimed the authority to correctly interpret the meaning of the Sabbath and all the laws pertaining to it. Because Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, He is free to do on it and with it whatever He pleases.

Matthew 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. . Jesus is "Lord of the harvest", not the harvest itself. . To admit (rightly) that Jesus is the author of laws, but doesn't need to keep them, is very strange, and no Christian I know of really believes that it is OK to worship other gods, bow to images, blaspheme God's name, disrespect parents, unlawfully put others in the ground (to avoid YT flagging), commit adultery, steal, lie, or covet. . Why is it only the sole commandment that God specifically said to "Remember" that is the one that most Christians today wish to forget?
